AFDUR draws on international experiences that have demonstrated the strength and viability of the French university model abroad.

The French University Colleges of Russia
Founded in 1991 and 1992 in Moscow and Saint Petersburg on the initiative of the French writer and intellectual Marek Halter, in collaboration with Andrei Sakharov, the French University Colleges were established within the Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Saint Petersburg State University.
These establishments:
award diplomas recognized within the European framework (Bologna Process),
operate with a dual approach (French-language and simultaneous translation),
mobilize a consortium of leading French universities,
are supported by the French authorities.
Since their creation, more than 40,000 diplomas have been awarded.

Sorbonne Kazakhstan
In 2014, a French university was founded in Almaty:
Sorbonne Kazakhstan
Inaugurated by Presidents François Hollande and Nursultan Nazarbayev, it now constitutes a successful model of Franco-foreign academic cooperation.

President of AFDUR, Marek Halter is an internationally recognized intellectual figure.
Writer, essayist, participant in international dialogue, he is:

Commander of Arts and Letters
Recipient of the Russian Order of Friendship
Holder of the Kazakh Parasat Order
Doctor Honoris Causa from Saint Petersburg State University
Honorary Professor at Moscow State University
Its commitment to intercultural and academic dialogue structures the actions of AFDUR.
