THE CHINA PROJECT

An academic initiative currently being structured
In line with its mission to develop international university cooperation, the French Association for the Development of Universities and Research Centres (AFDUR) is currently working on structuring a Franco-Chinese academic project.
This project aims to develop higher education programs in China based on French academic excellence, in partnership with local university institutions.
The objective is to offer Chinese students high-level training in strategic scientific and technological fields, while promoting intellectual exchange and cooperation between France and China.
The project is currently in the study and consultation phase with various academic and institutional partners.
Project objective
AFDUR is working to create French university structures in China, based on:
a dialogue with Chinese academic authorities,
the involvement of partner French universities,
a French academic administration on site,
scientific supervision provided by a Franco-Chinese scientific council.
The training courses under consideration could include, depending on the identified needs:
Computer science and digital technologies (artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity)
Engineering and applied technologies (robotics, industrial engineering and advanced technologies)
Physical sciences, nanotechnologies and materials
Life sciences and biotechnologies
Immersive and interactive technologies (augmented reality and virtual reality)
The courses would be taught in French, with a simultaneous translation system if necessary.
The diplomas would be issued by the partner French universities, in accordance with European standards.
Progress report
The project is currently being structured, with work focusing on the feasibility study, consultation with the institutions concerned, identification of academic partners and definition of the legal and administrative framework.
No official announcement of its creation has been made at this stage.
AFDUR acts with rigor and prudence in order to guarantee the institutional solidity of the project.
